Manitowish Waters - 3/17/2009

Good Morning Everyone,

Well, I changed the title of this report today, reflecting the overall change in the seasons. It has been a very obvious 5 days of spring-like weather with highs in the 50's, and plenty of sunshine.
If I have to rate our snowmobile trails, well they are basically unrideable, although listed as technically open until March 31. So baring a major snow event, we can basically call the season over.
As far as other winter sports, downhill skiing remains EXCELLENT, at Indianhead. The warmer weather has really made for great Midwest spring skiing.
For those who like to ice fish, this past weekend saw crowds of people flocking to ice for the warm weather, and nice sunshine. It was really a sight seeing the dozens of people on the local lakes, basking in 50 degrees, working on their winter tans.

As we move towards summer, I will be changing my focus to more "local" items for those who are out of the area.

By the way, a year ago, at this time the filming of "Public Enemies", was just beginning. For those interested, the "trailer" for the film is now out, with an early July release date for the movie.

Well, that's about it for today.

I hope you have a great week.

Join us in the northwoods. We still have good downhill skiing.

Rich
