Manitowish Waters - 3/20/2009

Good Morning Everyone,

We have had some really beautiful spring days in the northwoods. Our weather for the most part has been great. This upcoming weekend should also prove to be another 2 days of mild weather and good sunshine.

For the downhill skiing folks, conditions remain EXCELLENT at Indianhead. All slopes are open, crowds during the week have been light, and snow conditions superb. Just add the great sunshine and you have some of the best springtime skiing around. While conditions are great, Indianhead will be closing after the 29th of March., and it's not due to the lack of snow.

On the snowmobile front, our Vilas County Alliance, on Wednesday evening, decided to close our area trails, effective 3/20/2009, today. For some reason, our Eagle River folks, think we all need to be united in not only the opening, but now the closings too. I hope, if some of our riders have time to comment, they let people know that our counties northern tier clubs, MW, Win/PI, and Land o Lakes, can and do have much different conditions than our southern groups, ie: Eagle River. Maybe this year, and this time it doesn't matter, but our northern conditions can vary so much more than theirs, why do we want or need their help. Our northern tier clubs should be more concerned on the happenings in Iron County, and the UP.

As I mentioned, skiing is great. Time is getting short. The clock is ticking.

So, join us for the last 10 days of March skiing, or even just relaxing in the north.

Have a great weekend,

Rich
