Manitowish Waters - 3/30/2009

Good Morning Everyone,

It seems time has slowed in the northwoods. Without the winter sports, there is not alot of new topics, well outside of the local elections, next week.
But here's a little roundup of the MW world, over the past ten days. First, our warmer spring weather has done it's usual head fake, and our weather has reverted from those nice spring days. Our daytime temps, do break freezing, but not by much, and our nights are well below freezing, last night 12 degrees. So, the rapid thaw we had, has come to a snails pace. There is still snow in the woods, the ground remains solidly frozen, and there is good ice on the lakes. For another taste of winter, we should see 1-5 inches tomorrow, and tomorrow night, how's that. I guess we still have to remember, it's still March, and April is 30 days long. Unfortunately, this season our snowmobile trails died early, without the normal mid to late March spring riding. And as of yesterday, Indianhead Mtn., closed for the season, and I can tell you first hand, it wasn't for the lack of snow.
I have always wondered where some phrases have come from, you know, like "hurry up and wait", or like, "watching the paint dry". And now I know, here. But, despite the 2 months we have a hand, this is still a great place to vacation and live. I just don't like the wait.

So, I bet your wondering about the upcoming local elections I mentioned. We have our current board members re-running, as well as a number of new candidates for all the board positions. I was always told, that "religion and politics" are 2 topics that can cause problems. I'll say no more here!

We that's it for today. Boy, could we use another movie this year!
