Manitowish Waters Trail Reports - 03/02/2009

Good Morning Everyone,

Burrrrr....what month is this?..another night of -22 to -29 below in the area. I thought this was March.
Well, it was a great weekend in the northwoods. Conditions for all winter activities couldn't have been much better, well maybe a bit warmer yesterday for the skiing crowd, where daytime temps were only 6-7 above at Indianhead. But never the less it was a superb weekend.
The snowmobile trails in the Manitowish Waters area remain in Very Good condition, bordering excellent. Almost every report, from riders, indicates trails are great. As one of our famous Iowa riders said, "until the afternoon chop starts to build from the traffic, you really have to try and find something wrong". So, today's report is easy, "their great"!
In terms of the forecasts, it looks like the storm for Thursday, is still on track. Temps are forecasted to warm above freezing on Thursday, ahead of the storm. Nighttime temps though the next weekend, are forecasted to below the freezing mark, somewhere in the mid 20's for lows. Despite Thursday, being a potential "mix" day, we should see another really good spring snowmobiling weekend ahead of us.
As far as skiing goes, the conditions at Indianhead are excellent. Yesterday was a bit cool, but that more than up for the non-existent lift lines. This year could really see some great late season skiing.

For those still itching to get away. We have the conditions.

Join us in the northwoods.

Rich
