Manitowish Waters Trail Reports - 03/13/2009

Good Morning Everyone.....

It's Friday the 13th, again.

Well the winter storm, which was forecasted this week, was a fizzle. We may have an inch of new snow to show, but it looks like there was more freezing rain and sleet, than forecast. Our trails are HARD, and ICY! There are a few sleds out, but the numbers have tailed off. Trails in the Manitowish Waters area still have some fair to good trails in the woods. With a warm-up into the 40's for Saturday and Sunday, our icy conditions should give way to some pretty good trail softness. With the warmth and sun over the weekend, I would expect to see a renewed deterioration in overall conditions. Unless, we get more snow, this could be one of the remaining times, this season, to put the sleds on the trails.
As far a downhill skiing, Indianhead continues to have all trails open and in excellent condition. The power tilling on the slopes has done a good job, eliminating the current icy conditions plaguing the rest of the snow sports. With the warming into the weekend, we should have a great weekend of spring skiing.

Looks like a good "spring-like" weekend ahead.

Winters clock is still ticking, but the "alarm" could be soon.

Have a great weekend.

Rich
