(A great vote for the kids!!)
Our recent election was a pretty exciting, an almost "heated" event. A political committee surfaced during this election which was sponsored by Chuck DeCarlo, and most of the "Lions" organization. This group sponsored 2 candidates Jean Eales and Vince Hoehn, both of whom lost in their attempts to unseat Bartling and Bauers.
Our town chairman's race was extremely interesting. A relatively unknown political candidate 6 months ago, Carl Peter came 36 votes shy of unseating John Hanson.(Maybe a political shift at hand?)
The North Lakeland School Referendum also passed with the combined townships of MW, Boulder Junction, PI, Winchester and Land o' Lakes. The mill rate will continue to remain the lowest in the state at 1.81 mills. The Manitowish Waters vote for the school remained consistent with past votes in other referendums. It seems our retired "bedroom" community is happy they have been educated, and happy their children have been educated, and happy their grandchildren are being educated, as long as it's not here, and doesn't cost them anything currently!
It was a great vote for the "Kids"!
Have great week.
Rich
