Manitowish Waters - 4/6/2009

Good Morning Everyone,

The activity in Manitowish Waters remains slow. We are in the typical "in between season" where winter is over and summer weather is pretty far out. Our local tourism has been on hold since the end of winter activities, and there doesn't seem to be any pick-up on the horizon, until we start seeing signs of warmer weather. The normal spring yard jobs are probably still 2 weeks out, as we wait for more yard snow to melt, and the ground to thaw.
As far as local news, our town elections are tomorrow, and I will provide a quick update on Wednesday of the results.
I have also had people asking about the lakes and water levels, but we still have too much visible ice, for any change in lake levels. My guess is we will need some good days in the low 50's, and some good nights above freezing, before we can even start talking about rising lake levels.
As far as our near term weather forecasts, we should start seeing the sunny mid 40's for this week, and into the weekend. Our nights, will continue to dip below freezing, holding us back from that rapid look of spring.

Check back Wednesday for an election update.

Have a good week,

Rich
