Manitowish Waters - 5/19/2009

Good Morning Everyone.

I guess first on my list today is the water level in the Chain. As of yesterday, we are at 7'4", at the dam. With high water at 8'6", and "operating levels" around 8'4", we are only 12 inches shy of good water levels. I understand our daily improvement varies by the day, some day's an inch, and other 1/2 to no improvement, all depending on water inflows, and water usage from the chain. Never the less, we are getting real close to good levels, considering the continued dryness this year.
Our local activity continues to improve daily. More summer residents continue to return to the area, after the long winter. Boat launching and pier work seems to be the picking up pace. While spring yard work, is mostly done, outdoor spring planting remains on the back burner. We have had just too many frost/freeze warnings to get the plants and vegetables into outdoor environment.
For those planning on a Memorial day weekend up north, the weather should be great.(Well, as forecasted today) Weekend temps should be in the mid to high 60's, with sunny or partly sunny skies. Bring your sweaters, nights still cool down pretty good.

I hope everyone enjoys the upcoming weekend. Join us in the north woods.

Rich
