Good Morning Everyone,
I guess we must have gotten busy, as I just noticed the last update was on the 9th, 2 weeks ago. Well, things have really turned around in the northwoods. First, the weather seems to have gone from winter to summer, in these past 2 weeks. Our colder days have given way to the low 90's, yesterday and today. Our nights, have been humid, and relatively balmy, by northwoods standards, with lows in the high 60's. Summer has arrived.
For those wondering about our chain of lakes, water levels are basically at operating high levels, give or take 2 inches. Water temps really rebounded over the past 2 weeks. Temps on the 9th, were 57-59 degrees, and soared to 74-77, as of yesterday. Water sports have begun!
It's hard to believe the 4th of July is only 10 days out. Our "Grand Parade" will begin at 1pm this year. Like the past few years, activities in town will be focused at the community center, from 9am, until 4pm. The one significant change this year, is the fireworks will be held at the airport, following the 7:30pm ski show, at Rest Lake Park.
Well things are already heating up today, and I need to run. I'll have another pre-4th update over the weekend.
One last thing. For this upcoming weekend, the DNR has announced, they will have a program called "Operation Dry-Water". This will be a state wide program with Wardens and water patrols to limit drinking and boating.
Have a great day,
Rich
